Solid Rock Hospital recently treated a 35-year-old man diagnosed with an Anal Fistula, a condition that creates an abnormal connection between the anus and surrounding tissues.
The patient had a successful Anal Fistulectomy, a surgical procedure to treat the condition.
The mid-aged man was admitted to the hospital on the morning of November 26th, 2024. Pre-operative bowel preparation and blood tests were done. Consent form was also signed.
The procedure began at 9:30am on November 27th, 2024, and ended in due time. Doctors used spinal anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort during the operation.
Patient was moved from the theatre to the recovery room where immediate post-surgical management was done. The nurses regularly checked the vital signs and administered prescribed medications. Doctor on duty also did a post-operative clinical assessment.
On November 28th, 2024, the patient was transferred to the inpatient ward to continue care. The surgical dressing and anal pack were removed. The patient was taught how to have sitz bath, then regular diet commenced.
Satisfactory surgical outcome was contingent on the requisite surgical expertise thorough surgical work up, counseling and patient’s compliance with post-surgical advice. This underscores the importance of a holistic approach of patient centered care in clinical management.
